Senior Cloud Solution Architect

What you'll do

This role sits in the Cloud Solutions Team (CST) within Cloud Infrastructure Services (CIS).  The CST are responsible for solutioning Managed Services on the Cloud Platforms supported in Capgemini (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, VMWare on AWS, on premise HCI and 2-tier). CIS as a whole are tasked with client advisory services, cloud project engagements and cloud service delivery. The CST are part of the Global business unit with responsibility to advise, support and develop cloud solutions across the regional business units.  We are looking for experts who can build credibility and trust with our clients and provide knowledge that addresses their individual and unique business needs.

The Cloud Solutions Architect is key in helping enable our customers on their journey to leverage cloud.  In this role, the Cloud Solution Architect engages closely with clients, partners and other business units to develop and execute innovative and competitive solutions for new and existing clients, leveraging a wealth of previous experience in deploying cloud, moving those clients through a transformation to cloud and onto a “run” managed service .

You’ll work as part of a pre-sales team, taking customers through the full journey from initial engagement, through proposal stage and potentially supporting clients during implementation.  For cloud only deals, you may be the only Solutions Architect aligned to the deal, however for multi-platform deals, you’ll likely work as part of a team of Solution Architects. 

What you bring

You’ll have recent experience working for a technology service provider or cloud provider in a pre-sales solutioning role designing managed service or transformation solutions for Cloud.  You’ll be used to working as part of a team on the end to end sales cycle, from the early stages of the engagement where you’re helping answer Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP) through customer presentations and workshops and then producing the required client artefacts, such as high-level design documents.  Whilst you’ll understand the solution from a technical perspective, you’ve also got a point of view on the commercial and legal aspects of the solution, helping ensure solutions are cost effective and are in line with any compliance and legal requirements.    

You must have:

  • 5+ years’ experience creating managed service solutions in a pre-sale’s role.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with Public Clouds, ideally in a pre-sale’s solution architect role. 
  • A good understanding of the different purchasing vehicles for Public Cloud and the circumstances under which each might be used.
  • Experience working on the infrastructure design for customers and be able to discuss how best to price and optimise it.
  • Be able to articulate the technical and commercial drivers that influence how an infrastructure solution is created. 
  • First rate relationship building and presentation skills; you’ll be able to work from CxO level down and be able to steer a customer facing meeting to a good outcome, both the customer and Capgemini. 
  • Excellent written skills; you’ve regularly worked on sales pitches, infrastructure solution documents and RFI/RFP responses.
  • Strong attention to detail; you’re used to working through the nuts and bolts of the prices for a managed service solution, as well as the details of a cloud infrastructure bill of materials (BOM). 
  • A clear understanding of service management (ideally ITIL) and how to bring these principles to solutions that you design. 

It is highly desirable to have:

  • Cloud Certifications from one of our key Cloud Providers, e.g. Azure (70-534 or 70-535) or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • More traditional qualifications around either VMWare, Linux, or the Microsoft stack. 
  • Exposure to Dev-Ops and understand how customers use it in order to accelerate application and infrastructure deployment.
